With the vision of "MODERN : LONG LIVE CRAFTS",
A.Dupré is a womenswear brand that mixes natural materials and Indian handicraft with contradictory elements to create new possibilities of handicraft. The brand makes use of hand-spun and hand-woven fabrics produced by artisans in the villages of West Bengal, where the idyllic Indian landscape spreads out. The sound of hand-loom weaving echoes from the houses, the vastness of the land, the lush greenery and the sounds of the many animals in the village represent the essence of craftsmanship that has been going on since before the words ethical, sustainable and organic were born, and teach us many hints for surviving in the future. We feel that it teaches us a lot about how to survive in the future. A.Dupré's aim is to mix and sublimate these casual materials and contrasting elements, to highlight the traces of handicraft and to present them in a contemporary way.

Out of the beautiful rural landscape of India, over endless time, refined textiles have been spun and woven by hand. In the details, a line of subtle hand-stitching fans out. The grace of the artisans, who work closely alongside nature, is effortlessly beautiful.
Exuberant and understated, A.Dupré features ambivalent clothing celebrating both. It is wear that naturally lifts the spirit, coolly and elegantly.

HANDIWORK IN INDIA / ETHIC
No matter how efficiently any given woven fabric can be produced by machine, for A.Dupré the preciousness discovered in India’s handiwork is sacrosanct. A print pattern pressed by woodblock or the delicate weave of a light, thin muslin created from an extra fine, handspun thread. The techniques of textiles created by hand are nurtured by a region’s climate and culture, resulting in diverse sensibilities…all for our pleasure.
Beautiful rural belts are home to textile regions—expansive plains with waterside birds. And the process of threading the looms takes place in these great outdoors, a workspace under the blue sky. The hands that move the loom, even their action of handling a pair of scissors is beautiful. Nature as it is. Fibers cultivated without pesticides. Textiles born from a gentle process that lends to thickness and a slight unevenness, as well as print gradations and hand stitching inconsistencies…For A.Dupré these elements are all enchanting, and valued over any precise textile.
